Manufacturing Update 🔪, Rewards to ship in August (hopefully!)
27 days ago – Tue, Jul 21, 2026 at 05:40:13 PM

Hey Backers,

Manufacturing Update

Thank you for your continued patience and support as we bring the ONAMI Knife to life. We’re excited to share a strong progress update with you today.

Mass production is wrapping up — we expect production to reach completion by July 30th or 31st. This puts us on track to enter the rewards delivery phase in August!

In addition, our manufacturing partner will be visiting Los Angeles on business next month. I’ll be (trying!) to meet with them in person to discuss logistics, and ensure everything is ready for a smooth shipment to our backers, before they head out to Las Vegas.

We’ll follow up shortly with more details on shipping timelines, tracking information, and any final steps once the knives are in our hands. As always, we’ll keep you posted!

Your support means the world to us — thank you for helping make the ONAMI Knife a reality!

And finally, as we wrap up manufacturing, we’d love to know what drew you to the ONAMI Knife. Vote in the poll below and feel free to elaborate in the comments!

ONAMI Mass Production Sample Approved!
about 1 month ago – Tue, Jul 07, 2026 at 01:01:16 PM

Hi everyone,

Mass Production

We apologize for not getting this update out sooner. Last week, our manufacturing partner sent over photos and video of the mass production sample of the ONAMI knives. After reviewing them, we gave the green light to move into full production.

The photo and video quality wasn’t the best, but it was more than enough for us to confidently approve the sample without waiting for physical units to ship to us. This decision saved us nearly a full week and a half in the timeline — a win!

We’ve asked them to send slightly better photos and videos AND a production sample as soon as possible so we can share them with all of you. As soon as we receive those, we’ll post them in a future update. We also expect to have a clearer ETA on when mass production will be completed very soon.

Sorry again for the delay in sharing this news — we’ve been heads-down pushing everything forward as quickly as we can.

HELIX Spinner

Quick note on our other active campaign: Our HELIX SPINNER is in its final week on Kickstarter! If you haven’t already pledged, we’d truly appreciate your support to help us bring this fun, mesmerizing EDC spinner to life. Every backer makes a huge difference in the final stretch.

Our New Spinner Project is LIVE!
2 months ago – Wed, Jun 17, 2026 at 12:25:45 PM

Hey everyone,

I'm thrilled to announce that our new HELIX Spinner Project officially launched on Monday! We had an incredible first 24 hours, but I wasn't able to get this update out in time to let you all know right away.

To make up for missing the limited 24-Hour Launch reward (which is now closed), we're offering you something special: a SECRET REWARD link that brings the pledge price back down to just $20 per spinner!

🔗 Secret Reward Link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dapperdesignllc/helix-spinner-and-kinetic-desk-toy?secret_reward_token=8617e87b

This is a feature from Kickstarter that makes the special $20 reward visible only to those who have the direct link. It's our way of saying thank you for your continued support and for being early backers on our projects.

On a quick note regarding the ONAMI knife: we are still waiting on the final production sample from our manufacturing partner and should have it in hand very soon. I apologize for the delay on their behalf — we’ll share updates as soon as it arrives.

Thank you again for your incredible support. Let's make this another successful launch together!

Mass production underway!
4 months ago – Thu, Apr 23, 2026 at 10:25:47 AM

Hi Backers,

Mass Production Underway

Great news — we’ve officially received enough responses on the BackerKit survey to lock in the estimated quantities for each knife variation. Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to fill it out. Your answers have been incredibly helpful.

We are now moving into mass production. Our manufacturing partner is currently reviewing everything on their end and preparing the final production run. They’ll need a little time to run the numbers and give us a reliable estimated completion timeline (ETA). They are also going to be sending us mass production samples to make sure everything is correct.

As soon as we receive that information, we’ll follow up with a full update including expected shipping windows.

We really appreciate your continued patience and support as we take this next big step. We’re excited to get these knives made and into your hands!

BackerKit Survey; Pay Over Time

We understand now that the Pay Over Time feature on Kickstarter is a great feature but doesn't allow those backers to answer the BackerKit Survey until it is fully paid. We will improve on how we take surveys in the future. For those of you who are unable to answer the survey because of the paid over time feature, no worries. Simply wait until you've paid off the balance and then head over to the following link to request a survey link to be emailed to you:

One more quick question for the community:

I’ve been working on another project — a truly unique fidget spinner that can also double as a desktop kinetic toy. I feel the market has been missing something genuinely different, and I believe there’s room for a high-quality piece that’s both fun to spin and enjoyable as a kinetic desk toy.

I’d love to get your honest feedback:

Please answer the poll:

  • Yes! I’d love to see something truly different
  • Somewhat interested — might need more details first
  • Not really into fidget spinners anymore
  • Completely over fidget spinners

Your answers will help me decide whether to move forward with this project and how much effort to put into it. No pressure either way — just genuinely curious what the community thinks.

Thank you!
